Build Websites for Humans, Not Search Engines

You have probably heard some people saying that you should build your websites for humans and not search engines. Especially when Google themselves are saying it. Now you may be thinking, “great but where do I get traffic? It doesn’t come by itself.”

While that is true, it doesn’t change the fact that you should build websites for real people. After all, it’s they who buy and make you money, not search engine bots.

It’s easy to get caught up with SEO since you get a feeling of trying to achieve something, but be careful for it not to beat the purpose.

Saying that you should build websites for humans means that you should provide as much value as possible and that on its own increases SEO and cuts the time required to spend on it.

I have seen the effect of this many times. Even back when I didn’t know what SEO was, I was ranking for my niche keywords. How is that possible if I didn’t do any SEO whatsoever? Simply I provided value and my customers took care of it for me.

Build your sites with customers in mind and they will take care for you.

Of course that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do SEO. You can and should, but the point is that it’s so much easier when your website itself helps you.

  1. Sorry if it’s tacky to post this in the comments, but i wasn’t sure how to get a hold of you otherwise… I wanted to quote a few of your articles and wondered if that was okay assuming I provided a credit link back to you?
