Climbing up the rankings in search engines (especially Google) is a very bumpy ride. And sometimes it can be frustrating if you don’t know what to expect. You would think that once you get a good ranking in the SERP you should retain it or the fluctuation should be minimal. If you see your site falling down it’s easy to panic.
But the matter of fact is that SEO is a very bumpy ride. To illustrate what I mean, one of my pages has fallen down from #4 to #88 position overnight today. But fear not, it will come back higher than before. See, that’s how it works and you have to understand this.
I cannot tell why and when exactly this happens. Sometimes you see a steady climb, other times it’s like a roller-coaster. But in the long run the result is the same – you get high rankings.
It’s important not to panic and just keep doing what you were doing. Temporary dips will happen and they mean nothing. Doing something about it (such as trying to get tons of links to fix the situation) may actually prolong the “down-time”. So keep it cool.
